Mock Trial

Mock Trial is an elective course offered in the spring semester to all students in high school. In Mock Trial, students will learn how our adversarial system of justice operates by preparing for and conducting a mock trial at a regional competition. While preparing for competition, students will develop many skills that will be useful throughout their lives. These skills include persuasive public speaking, critical and analytical thinking, strategic and tactical planning, self-discipline, team collaboration, the use of computer organization and presentation software, active listening, critical reading, and brainstorming. Each team is composed of at least eight and no more than ten members. There are eight roles on each side of the case. Each team must perform both sides of the case. This course is worth one credit.
